So, if you’re looking for some new ways to deck the halls this year, we’ve compiled some of our favorite DIY Christmas door designs to provide an extra touch of inspiration.
DIY Christmas Door Decorating Ideas
Yarn Ball Wreath
Take a less traditional approach to a very traditional door decoration this year by creating a yarn ball wreath. This totally customizable, yet very chic wreath adds a rustic touch to any front door. You can choose whichever colors match your existing decorations and create an array of different sized yarn balls to fill in the wreath form. All your need is newspaper, yarn or twine, a wreath form and a hot glue gun. Simply wrap the wreath form in yarn, and secure a hanger to the back. Next, take the newspaper to form different sized balls and wrap the yarn around the newspaper until it’s completely covered. Last but not least, glue away until the wreath form is filled with various shades and textures of your favorite yarn colors. Pro tip: adding twine to the mix gives your wreath some extra texture!
Santa Hat Door Hanger
If you’re thinking about skipping the wreath all together this year, but don’t want your front door to lose its Christmas cheer, then door hangers are the next best thing. This one still features some greenery, but it can be stuffed with any seasonal item really. To create you’ll need a Santa hat, a basket that fits inside the hat, seasonal decorations and shrubs, and a glue gun. Glue the basket inside the hat and fill the basket with goodies. Then, hang from your door and enjoy!
Gift Wrapped Door
One of the most elegant and simple DIY Christmas door designs. This door décor can be the perfect touch to finish your home’s look. Simply find the perfect ribbon, some scissors and double sided tape and you’re ready to decorate. To complete, first measure the length and width of your door, then cut two sets of ribbon, one for the length and one for the width. When you cut, add some extra length for securing the ribbon. Secure each end to the sides of the door with double-sided tape so that the ribbon doesn’t show on the inside. Where the two ribbons cross, add your bow and you’re done. Pro Tip: You can add a name tag to the packaging with some black card stock and a silver sharpie for an extra touch!
