If your slider has gone heavy with sand, the sill it rides on is the part that wore out. Crystal builds vinyl windows and patio doors. The right one for you depends on how often you open it and how much sand gets into the track.
Ask around here about an old slider and you will hear that it got heavy. The wear is in the track, and Crystal builds that track one way on a Vista window and another way on Vista PLUS.
On an ordinary vinyl slider the rollers run in channels molded straight into the sill. Blowing sand settles in those channels, and the wheels grind it into soft plastic. A few summers of that and you are putting a shoulder into a window to open it, usually with a worn groove down the track by then. Nothing has gone wrong with the glass.
Vista PLUS runs large nylon dual rollers on a single raised monorail with a stainless steel cap. Two things change at once. The surface taking the wear is capped in steel instead of bare vinyl. You also have one rail to sweep instead of a pair of channels, because grit falls off the sides of a rail instead of packing in under the wheel. Crystal publishes no wear testing here. Take it as how the part is built, not as a rated figure.
Buena Vista, the sliding door, has a dual point lock. One handle drives two bolts into a keeper plate, one above your hand and one below. The heads are mushroom shaped, wider than the shank they sit on, so turning the handle draws the panel in toward the frame instead of just holding it shut. A panel sitting flat against the weatherstrip keeps dust out of your track, and it stops the rattle when the wind comes up over the pass.
Crystal's brochure sets Vista and Vista PLUS side by side, feature by feature. Neither one wins on everything, so pick by the opening you are filling. Buena Vista is a sliding patio door of up to four panels, and Valencia has windows as well as a swing door. Glass walls that fold back, or slide out of sight into the wall, are not part of any of these lines.

All four come off one certified configuration, a single hung with LoE3-366 glass and argon. Other styles carry their own numbers.
Five steps between your first call and the paperwork at the end. You can stop at any of them. The city sets its permit fee once it sees your scope, so that one sits outside the quote.
The cards above carry the headline for each line. Below is every figure the brochures and Crystal's size sheet print, blanks included. Anything going into a permit set gets pulled off the current NFRC listing first, the national register that certifies a window's energy numbers.

The largest sizes come from Crystal's testing data sheet, revised July 21, 2025. Each style has several limits there, depending on the glass and the structural rating, so we check your opening against it at the measure. Valencia is not in this table because the brochures do not cover it, and its sizes are on its card above. Performance Grade and the sound ratings are from Crystal's 2024 Vista brochure, page 6. Exact numbers vary by configuration.
White inside is the standard, and the 2025 brochure adds a beige vinyl the older brochures do not mention. Outside, the paint is CrystalCoat, and the brochure shows it in black, dark bronze, clay, gray, beige, brown, forest green and brick red. A color outside with a light frame indoors suits most houses out here, because the color you are matching is the one your neighbors and the HOA committee see from the street.
Black over Black is the exception. The frame is painted black inside as well as out, and Crystal's paint chart below marks which styles can have it. Grids, the bars set between the panes of glass, are not offered with exterior foiled products, so foil and grids do not go together. Valencia takes grids too: a 1 in. sculptured bar or a 5/8 in. flat one, in one color or two, with a 10 in. valance across the top, a six or nine lite marginal pattern, or a design you send us.
Find your style, and each Yes means Crystal offers that finish on it. Beige vinyl is a beige frame inside in place of the standard white. The beige CrystalCoat paint for the outside is a separate choice. The chart names Foil and Foil over Black without describing either one, so ask us what each looks like.

Every Yes and No here comes from Crystal's paint chart, revised August 21, 2026. Letters in parentheses are Crystal's style codes, and Arches and Angular are its names for shaped windows. Vista PLUS has no Arches row on that chart. On a double hung or double slider both halves of the window open, and on a single hung or single slider one half stays put.

Five we get asked at the counter.
They can, and we check yours before anything is ordered. Crystal certifies one configuration across these brochures, a single hung with LoE3-366 glass and argon, and its solar heat gain number is a strong one for Climate Zone 15, which has the strictest solar limits in the state. It is one configuration though. A slider or a picture window in the same house carries different numbers. The brochures do not print them.
So we pull the certified figures for what you are actually buying and run the compliance check before the order goes in. Vinyl usually clears Title 24 on its own, which saves you the cost and the wait of a consultant modeling your whole house. Where a specification does need one, we arrange it. If numbers have to sit in front of an HOA committee before you get approval, tell us at the first visit so we start early. Some committees meet monthly if that.
We warranty our installations for a year and stand behind our work. Typically manufacturers would offer a limited lifetime warranty or 10 year warranty on their products (you would need to refer to each manufacturer for their respective warranties).
Crystal writes a Ltd-Lifetime warranty on Vista and a Ltd-Lifetime PLUS version on Vista PLUS, and the PLUS one is what carries accidental glass breakage. Read Crystal's footnote before you count on it, because it excludes tempered and specialty glass and it is only for the original owner. Tempered is what sits in the openings most likely to get hit. In a valley full of second homes and estate sales, that original-owner line is a real limit. We put the current warranty document in your hands for the products you pick.
If something does need replacing later, our office files the claim with Crystal and books the repair. You call the same number you called to buy the thing.
Our own crews. Every installer is on our payroll as a W-2 employee. There is no subcontractor for anyone to point at if something needs sorting out later. One patio slider is a perfectly normal call. So is a whole house, and so is one bedroom window somebody put a rock through.
Ask us before you assume either way. Crystal's testing data sheet, revised July 21, 2025, prints a largest size for every style, and each style has several limits depending on the glass and the structural rating. A four-panel Buena Vista door goes up to 192 x 92 in. on a block frame, and a Vista PLUS slider up to 84 x 60 in. On a big opening we check your exact size against that sheet before we quote you. If it will not carry the span, we say so at the measure and not at the order.
Getting two other bids is worth your time here, and the state tells you to get three, so compare the glass package, the frame material, whether each one is retrofit or full frame, and who is pulling the permit. Those four things move a window quote more than anything else you will be shown.
Yes, on the Buena Vista sliding door and on every Vista style in Crystal's paint chart. Some Vista PLUS and Valencia styles can have it too. Crystal calls it Black over Black, and the chart above marks each style Yes or No.
A style without it can still be painted outside with CrystalCoat, though Crystal does not say which of its paint colors each line takes. On its Vista and Buena Vista web pages, Crystal gives the factory-applied color on the inside of the frame a limited one-year warranty.
