Maximize Your Savings

Investing in energy-efficient windows and doors doesn't just lower your monthly utility bills—it can also put money back in your pocket through Federal Tax Credits and Local Utility Rebates.

Federal Incentive

Energy Efficient Home Improvement Credit

Under the Inflation Reduction Act, you can claim 30% of your project cost up to specific annual limits. This is a tax credit that directly reduces the federal tax you owe.

Up to $600 For Exterior Windows & Skylights
Up to $500 For Exterior Doors ($250 per door)
YOU CAN CLAIM: 30% Of project cost, up to annual limits

Crucial Note: Title 24 Compliance vs. Federal Tax Credits

Passing California's Title 24 building code allows your project to be permitted by your local building department, but it does not automatically qualify you for a federal tax rebate.

To claim the Energy Star federal tax credit, the IRS strictly requires the product manufacturer to have an active QMID (Qualified Manufacturer Identification Number). Some highly specialized manufacturers pass Title 24 (with the help of an energy consultant) but do not carry a QMID code. If claiming the tax credit is essential to your project, you must verify eligibility before purchasing.

WHY IT WORKS

What Makes a Window Efficient?

  • Low-E Glass: Special coatings reflect infrared light, keeping heat inside in winter and outside in summer.
  • Gas Fills: Spaces between panes are filled with Argon or Krypton gas, which insulates better than regular air.
  • Warm Edge Spacers: Non-metallic spacers keep glass panes the correct distance apart and reduce heat transfer at the edge.

What Makes a Door Efficient?

  • Improved Core Materials: Fiberglass, wood cladding, and steel with polyurethane foam cores are among the most energy-efficient materials available.
  • Magnetic Weatherstripping: New frames may include magnetic strips to create a tighter seal against air leakage.
  • Multiple Glass Panes: Double or triple-paned insulating glass is used to reduce heat flow.

What About Skylights?

  • Traditional Skylights: Use the same technologies as windows (Low-E glass, gas fills) to manage direct sun and temperature differentials.
  • Tubular Daylighting (TDD): Devices that gather sunlight at the roof and transmit it down to a diffusing lens in interior rooms.
  • Increased Daylight: TDDs illuminate closets, hallways, or bathrooms that wouldn't otherwise have access to sunlight.

In addition to federal credits, your local power company may pay you back for making energy-efficient upgrades.
